SWEETWATER -- Charles David Whitaker, Jr., 47, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2004 at his residence in Sweetwater. Funeral services are 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 12, 2004 at the First Baptist Church with Wayne Oglesby officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.

Mr. Whitaker was born February 27, 1957 in Eunice, Louisiana. He married Karen Smith November 11, 2000 in Sweetwater. Mr. Whitaker moved to Sweetwater in 2000 from Roby, where he had lived for the previous 15 years. He was employed by U.S. Gypsum Co. for the past 15 years.

Survivors include his wife, Karen of Sweetwater; three sons, Justin of North Richland Hills, Jacob Whitaker of Denton, and Joey Whitaker of Vernal, Utah; daughter, Nikki Whitaker of Vernal, Utah; one brother, Jim Whitaker of Salt Lake City, Utah; two sisters, Anita Nope of Salt Lake City and Janelle Labaron of Westlake, LA; stepson, Lindley Benson of Plainview; stepdaughter, Danielle Benson of Sweetwater; father, Charles David Whitaker, Sr. of Mesa, Arizona; mother, Dean Furge of Westlake, LA; one granddaughter, Justiss Whitaker of Vernal; and four step-grandchildren, Megan and Timothy Holsey and Allison and Addison Torres.

Pallbearers will be Ray Gonzales, Ricky Treadaway, Ricky Kiser, Joe Green, Glenn Ellison, Roger Graham, Larry Ramirez, and Brad Boyd.
