Edna McConnell, 90, daughter of the late Bruce and Rhoda Riggleman Fix, died Dec. 12, 2009 in Danville.

She was born Aug. 10, 1919 in Mansfield, Illinois. She was married in 1939 to Jack William Arnholt. In 1951, she married James A. McConnell, who preceded her in death in 1990.

A sister, Martha Holland; a brother, Bruce Fix and a stepson, Gene (Penny) McConnell also preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sons, Terry (Loretta) Arnholt and Michael (Dory) McConnell; a daughter, Viki Arnholt (Richard) Powell; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren and a sister, Trela Ott.

She was a graduate of Georgetown High School and held an MA degree from the University of Illinois. She worked for several Illinois newspapers as reporter, columnist and editor. She also wrote for Illinois Issues, a government magazine of record, and taught at Trevecca College in Nashville, Tennessee.
