Cedar Rapids, December 30.--While his mother was away from home, little Clarence Mottinger, two and one-half years old, found the kerosene can, poured a quantity of the oil on the floor and then set fire to it, in his home at Tenth avenue and First street, yesterday afternoon. His father, who was sleeping in another room heard the child's cries, and hastily wrapped him in a big overcoat, smothering the flames. But the little fellow had been burned fearfully and he died at 7 o'clock last night.
