SAN ANTONIO, Texas Charles K. Oakes, 90, went to be with his heavenly father Tuesday, May 27, 2014, he was at his home in San Antonio, Texas. He was a retired Master Sgt. From the U.S. Air Force after 29 years of service. Charles was preceded in death by his father and mother, Gordon and Mattie Stephenson Oakes; step-mother, Lucille Oakes; and brothers, Willis Oakes and Jimmy Vermillion. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marie S. Oakes; son, Gary S. Oakes; brothers, Elmer Oakes, Bill Oakes, Eddie Wolfe, and Charles Vermillion; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2014, at the Ridgedale Cemetery in Rich Valley with the Rev. Ray Wolford officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
