James E. Suddarth Paving Contractor James E. Suddarth, 83, of East 38th Street, died Wednesday, January 31, 2007, after being stricken at home. Born in Covington, Va. January 20, 1924, he was a son of the late Thomas and Elsie Suddarth. During WW II, he served in the U.S. Army. He was an paving contractor and was a partner in Thomas Suddarth & Son Contracting. An avid hunter, he also enjoyed dancing, and was a member of American Legion Post 771 and Post 11. He was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Marshall. Survivors include a son, Gary J. Suddarth, Cranesville; two daughters, Nancy D. Knox, husband John, Erie, and Debbie Grettler, husband Barry, Girard; 11 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; a brother, Gordon "Buzzy" Suddarth, Erie; a sister, Silvia Madrigale, Erie and a dear friend, Edie Otto, Erie. Call Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brugger Home for Funerals, 1595 West 38th Street at Greengarden Boulevard. Services will be held Saturday at 12 Noon. Burial at Lakeside Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Assn., 823 Filmore, 16505, or the Humane Society, 2707 Interchange Rd., 16506.
