March 3, 1919 ~ April 11, 2014

Lois Eileen Shier, formerly of Wenatchee, WA, passed away on April 11, 2014, in Missoula, MT, with her family at her side. Lois was born March 3, 1919, to Orville A. and Marian (Kaufman) Steele in Towner County, North Dakota. She was the only daughter in the family with three brothers, Lamar, Lloyd "Bud" and Gerald "Jerry". She attended Hurricane Lake School in Pierce County and Hard Wheat School in Towner County. She graduated from Cando, ND High School on May 31, 1939. Lois married Robert W. Shier on October 15, 1942, in the Church of the Brethren in Cando, ND. Lois remained in North Dakota while Bob was in Officer training for the U.S. Army Air Corps in Minnesota. She was able to join him in Georgia, until he was transferred to the Pacific. After World War II, Lois and Bob made their home in Rock Lake, ND, until they moved to Wenatchee, WA in 1956. Bob and Lois' brother, Bud, owned the Triangle Texaco Station. Bob passed away in December 1994. Lois was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Wenatchee. She and Bob were members of the Gingko Rock and Mineral Society of Wenatchee, where Lois proudly wore the beautiful jewelry Bob created. Lois was also a member of the Wenatchee Valley Senior Center. Until her vision failed, Lois enjoyed reading, sewing and quilting. Lois relocated to Missoula, MT in 2008, to be closer to her niece and family. Despite never having children of her own, Lois was very loving to all of her nieces and nephews. She was a kind and gentle person, who will be missed very deeply.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and her brothers. She is survived by her niece, Gerry Steele (Gary Taylor); her great-nephew, Clint Hultberg; and her great niece, Rae-Ann Beaulieu (Todd) and their daughters, Bella and Piper. She is also survived by cousins, Ann Steele and Rosella Mallot of Wenatchee.

Following her wishes, there will be no services. Burial has taken place at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in East Wenatchee, WA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements were made by Garden City Funeral Home of Missoula, MT.
