Fairy (Belcher) Oakley, 99, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma passed away on June 6, 2014. Fairy, one of nine children born to Bonnie and Hettie Belcher, grew up on a farm claimed by her grandfather in the Cherokee Strip Land Run of 1893. She attended school in Lambert and married her high school sweetheart, Cecil Oakley.

Fairy and Cecil began their life together in Alva, later moving to Driftwood where her husband taught school and coached basketball. The couple then moved to Cherokee and raised their family. They were blessed with three sons, Bruce, David and Tom. In 1941, the couple opened Oakley Pontiac. In 1958, the family and business moved to Bartlesville, where the car dealership still thrives today as Oakley Chevrolet Buick.

Fairy was known for her beautiful smile, infinite kindness, and loving pride of her family. She was actively involved with the Ladies Auxiliary of Jane Phillips Hospital, the Sorosis Book Club and the PEO Chapter DW for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband Cecil, son David, two brothers, Harold Belcher of Cherokee and Henry Belcher of Lambert, and five sisters, Lillian Davidson of Blackwell, Wenona Walters of Ponca City, Wenzella Clegg of Cherokee, Mary Anderson of Enid, and Glenda Ream of Cherokee.

Fairy is survived by her son Bruce Oakley and his wife Jane of Bartlesville, her daughter-in-law Mrs. David (Carolyn) Oakley, her son Tom Oakley and his wife Faye of Marietta, GA, and eight grandchildren: Edward Oakley of Oklahoma City, Kevin Oakley of Keller, TX, Karl Oakley of Mandeville, LA, David Oakley Jr. of Bartlesville, Caren Oakley Ford of Plano, TX, Liz Oakley of Charleston, SC, Susan Oakley Hedrick of Easley, SC, Katie Oakley of Oklahoma City, 14 great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, and by her sister Leora Bennett, of Wheatland, CA.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Project Home Foundation, Inc. in support of The Journey Home, 3406 SE Kentucky, Bartlesville, OK, 74006. The Journey Home provides Hospice support for late Stage, terminally ill, free of charge through community support.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM at Bartlesville First Church (Methodist), located at 4715 Price Road, on Monday, June 9, 2014. The Reverend Dr. T. Lee Stephens is officiating.
