Lifetime Valparaiso resident Rachel L. Herrick, 80, died Tuesday.
Born in Valparaiso May 28, 1905, the daughter of Carlton and Addie (Sheffield) Thatcher. A former beautician, she was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the Vivian Society and the Order of Eastern Star.
On Oct. 7, 1939, she was married to Donald A. Herrick, who died Jan. 14, 1982.
Surviving are two daughters, Kay Christoph of Fort Wayne and Carol Sanders of Maryland; a son, Donald of Valparaiso; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Clayton Thatcher of California.
Services 1 p.m. Friday at the Wetmore-Moeller Funeral Home; the Rev Willis Reid officiating; burial in Graceland Cemetery; visitation 2 to 5:30 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday; memorials to First Presbyterian Church.
