Nick Bothman, 97, of Albany died Friday at the Mennonite Home.
He was born in Gresham, to Nicklaus and Katherine (Fallon) Bothman, and attended local schools.
In 1929, he married Vida Samuel. She died in 1976.
In the 1940s he moved to Forest Grove.
After working for Shell Oil Co. from 1929 to 1954, he built Courtesy Corner and Albany Heating Oil Company. He sold the business in 1962 and retired.
He married Edith E. "Betty" Kernek in 1978.
Nick was a longtime Freemason. He received his 50-year membership pin from the Masonic Lodge in Bend.
During his retirement, Nick was an avid gardener. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Bothman of Albany; sons Robert Bothman of Portland and William Bothman of Tacoma, Wash.; four grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
At his request, no services are planned. Inurnment will be at Riverview Abbey Mausoleum in Portland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made the Masonic Grand Lodge of Oregon Home Endowment Fund in care of Fisher Funeral Home, P.O. 156, Albany, OR 97321.
