Merle H. Binegar

Merle Henry Binegar, 64, of Maplewood Drive, St. Marys, departed this Jan. 26, 2005.

He was born April 16, 1940, at home in Ludlow Township, Washington County. Mr. Binegar was a 1958 graduate of Lawrence High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1959-1963 in Plattsburg, N.Y. Upon completion of his military service he returned home and began working for the Union Carbide Corp. in Sistersville. He retired in April 1998 after 35 years of service as a laboratory technologist.

He moved to Pleasants County in 1968, where he resided until his death. He was a member of the Belmont Volunteer Fire Department from 1970 to 1975. He was baptised in the Catholic faith in April 1988 at St. John's Catholic Church, St. Marys.

Survivors include his mother, Glady's (Hesson) Binegar of New Matamoras, Ohio; his wife of 40 years, Carolyn (Burer) Binegar of St Marys; one son, Michael of St. Marys; one daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Phillip Soto of Montclair, Va.; four grandchildren, Alexandria and Robert Binegar of Schultz and Isaac and Gabriel Soto of Montclair; one sister, Ruth Schneider of New Matamoras; three brothers, Donald and Sue Binegar Jr. of Sistersville, Lawrence and Charlotte Binegar of Marietta and John and Pam Binegar of Lowell, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Barbara (Burer) and David McCarty of Lowell; one brother-in-law, Larry and Barbie Burer of Warner, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald H. Binegar of New Matamoras; father and mother-in-law, Charles M. and Martha (Ervin) Burer of Warner; brother-in-law, John Schneider of New Matamoras; and brother-in-law, Charles V. Burer Jr. of Marietta.

He enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren, the outdoors, flower gardening and his little dog, Buster.

Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel, 1021 Pike St., Marietta. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. John's Catholic Church, St. Mary's, with Father Thomas Karachira officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park, 27880 Ohio 7, Marietta.
