Gordon Aebischer, 75, R. 4, Chilton, died of an apparent heart attack at his home Friday, Jan. 26.

He was born Oct. 19, 1903 in the town of Charlestown, the son of the late Charlie and Jennie Heller Aebischer. He married Sylvia Moehrke in Chilton on June 20, 1928.

A prominent figure in this community, Aebischer farmed in the town of Charlestown and was the world’s largest producer of premium quality Reed Canary grass seed. He was a member of Ebenezer United church of Christ, past president of the congregation, former deacon and ordained Elder, superintendent of Sunday School for 14 years, lay member of the Synodical council, a member of the study and advisory committee and one several church committees.
He was a past moderator of the Wisconsin Conference, United Church of Christ and was a member of the board of directors of the Fort Wayne Children’s Home in Indiana.

He joined the Chilton Kiwanis Club in 1942. He held many local and state offices in that organization and helped to build the first three Circle K clubs in this district.
Aebischer is past president of the Wisconsin Crop Improvement Association, past president of the Wisconsin Master Farmers Organization, and served as president of the Calumet Memorial Hospital Board of Directors from 1957 to 1967. He was a member of the associate board for Lakeland College and the board of directors at the Commercial Bank of Chilton.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia, two daughters, Mrs. John (Eunice) Craig, Aurora, Colo., and Mrs. Robert (Margaret) Johnston, Elkhart Lake; six grandchildren, and one brother, Dale, St. Petersburg, Florida. One brother preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Monday at Ebenezer United Church of Christ. Burial was at Hillside Cemetery.
