Michael lived his entire life in Hampshire County, graduating from Hampshire High with the class of 1975. His primary career was with the Hampshire County Board of Education from which he retired after 25 years of service. He was one of those who enjoyed all types of machinery and engineering and like his dad, he could fix, fabricate and restore most anything and do whatever it took to make it work again. Michael enjoyed much: old cars, Fords, Harley Davidsons, and most anything outdoors. He had a wide streak of nostalgia for old TV shows and movies and spent many hours enjoying these pursuits. The apple of his eye and his pride and joy was his daughter Michele. Michael was dearly loved and will be missed by many.
Surviving is his loving wife, Mitzi E. Voit; father; Kenneth E. "Kenny" Voit of Romney, one daughter, Michele Lee Voit of Winchester, VA; two brothers; Douglas L. Voit and wife, Tara of Romney and Christopher A. Voit and wife Jamie of Slanesville, WV, and many other loving family members and a very special little furry friend named Wheezer.
The family will receive friends at Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney on Thursday, June 5 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be Friday, June 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Mr. Dennis Voit officiating.
Interment will be at Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery, Slanesville, WV. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Michael's memory to Ebenezer United Methodist Church, PO Box 872, Romney, WV 26757
