JEAN H. ALLEN, 85, of Prophetstown, IL, died Monday, June 2, 2014 at Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center in Prophetstown.

Jean was born October 6, 1928, in Sterling, IL, to Earl and Clara (Dettman) Maxwell. She was educated in the Galt Grade School and was a graduate of Rock Falls High School in Rock Falls, IL. She married Francis M. "Rainy" Allen on June 13, 1948 in Rock Falls. He died February 4, 1981. Jean was first employed as a waitress for Prophetstown Coffee Shop. She later worked for the Morrison Community Hospital housekeeping department, retiring in 1993. Jean was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Prophetstown and belonged to the Lutheran Church Women's group. She enjoyed crocheting and working word puzzles.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol (Gene) VanDeWostine of Prophetstown and Paula (Ron) Musick of Rock Falls; nine grandchildren, Mark (Kim) Martens, Melissa (Jim) Farley, Jamie (Penny) VanDeWostine, Amy VanDeWostine, Kimberly (Bill) Covell, Sheila (Tom) Hudson, Russ (Joni) Musick, Troy (Nicole) Musick and Joe Musick; nineteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Boles of Morrison, IL and Judy (Don) Popowski of Ukiah, CA; two brothers, Lawrence (Nancy) Maxwell of Cedar Point, NC and Charles (Nancy) Maxwell of Sterling, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Francis; one daughter, Beverly Martens; one son-in-law, Charles Martens.

VISITATION: 4:00 – 7:00 PM Friday – June 6, 2014 at the Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home – 320 Lafayette Street – Prophetstown, IL
