Lillian L. Aanenson, 94, Halstad, MN, died Sunday, June 1, 2014, at the Halstad Living Center, under the care of Hospice of The Red River Valley.

Lillian Lena Habben was born November 13, 1919, near Worthington, MN, the daughter of George and Anna (Meyers) Habben. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Norman County and attended country school first west of Ada in Hegne Township and later country school in Green Meadow Township. She was confirmed in Ada in 1933. After her school years, Lillian worked for area farm families for a few years until she was united in marriage to Tennie Aanenson, on December 20, 1941, in Ada. They made their home in Anthony Township near Ada where they raised their family. She had also worked for the Houske Farm near Halstad for years and also for American Crystal Sugar in Moorhead before retiring.

Lillian enjoyed gardening, quilting, and crocheting. She also played a lot of cards with her family and neighbors. After Tennie died in 1987, she continued to live on the farm until 2006, when she moved to an apartment in Halstad. She became a resident of the Halstad Living Center in 2007, residing there until her death.

Lillian is survived by her sons, Walt (Julie), Detroit Lakes, MN, Don (Rhonda), Karlstad, MN, 5 grandchildren, Jason (Jill) Freeman, SD, Jamie (Erin), Mankato, MN, Jill (Rich) Hinkle, Hawley, MN, Shane (Katy), Becker, MN, and Shawn (Jenny), Perham, MN, 13 great grandchildren, Tryg, Thor, Chloe, Cora, Charlie, Dane, Carter, Camden, Collin, Austin, Gage, Caleb, and Aaron, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers, Albert, George, Pete, Ben, and Leslie, sisters, Anna Bennefeld, Ella Lee, Goldie Smith, and Doris Syrstad, a grandson, Jeremy, and a great granddaughter, Olivia.

Memorials are preferred to the Halstad Living Center and Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Funeral: 11:00am, Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Grace Lutheran Church, Ada, MN.

Visitation: Wednesday, June 4th from 5:00-7:00pm with a memorial tribute service at 6:30pm at Fredrikson Funeral Home, Ada, MN.

Burial: Ada Municipal Cemetery, Ada, MN.
