Married Martha Ann Cloud March 7, 1843 in Floyd Co. GA and had one child, James M., about 1847. Martha died before 1857, probably in GA. He married Missouri Commander Nov. 14, 1857 in Barbour Co. AL. There were two children from that marriage, Sarah Frances (6/22/1862) and William Henry (6/22/1863). James enlisted in the Confederate Army and was captured, put in prison in Chicago, and died there. Martin went to Georgia to see about some trouble a family member was having and was shot & killed during the trip. There is no indication of when or where he died, where he was buried, or the circumstances of his death.
