Kershner - Funeral services for Lewis Burris Kershner, 73, who died October 8, 1961, were conducted at Earp and Son chapel in Kansas City at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Rev. Gerald Findley officiated. Burial was in Stanton cemetery where the Warren Black Post No. 60, American Legion, Ottawa, conducted military rites. Mr. Kershner was the oldest son of the late Owen E. and Alice M. Kershner. He was born October 23, 1887 and spent most of his early life in Miami county. In later years he lived in Kansas City. He was a retired orderly of Bethany hospital. Mr. Kershner enlisted in the U.S. Army August 5, 1918, and received an honorable discharge by reason of demobilization at the close of World War I. He was a member of the Warren Black post at Ottawa and of the Spring Ridge Presbyterian church. He never married. He had been in ill health for some time and had been a patient the past 18 months in the Norwood nursing home in Kansas City, where he died. His only immediate survivor is one brother, Elmer C.
