The son of the late Charles Sicina and the late Gloria Wood Sicina, he was born on June 21, 1947 in Passaic, N.J.
John proudly served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and was Personal Aide to General Ott, Chief of the Armed Forces in Thailand, as well as Fort Sill Oklahoma and Belgium. John was also stationed at West Point and was Personal Aide to Commanding General Goodpasture.
John was proud to belong to the Cornerstone Lodge #711 F & AM, Woodbury, N.Y., where he was a member for the past couple of decades. He enjoyed the outdoors and retired to Maine where he enjoyed hiking and fishing. He was a master at fly tying and taught classes on how to tie flies for fishing. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include one son: Brady Sicina and his wife, Leigh of Leesburg, Va.; one daughter: Shannon Herrin and her husband Terry of Middleburg, Fla.; three granddaughters, Chloe Copeland Anan and her husband Stephen of Tennessee, Charleigh Herrin of Florida and Kaleigh Hope Sicina of Leesburgh, Va, two brothers: James Sicina of Seattle, Wash. and William Sicina and his wife, Diane, of the town of Greenville, N.Y.; one sister: Laurel Ralph and husband, Richard, of Middletown, N.Y.; neices, Allyson Ralph Lovitch, Amanda Ralph Brown, Jennifer Sicina, nephews: Daniel Ralph, Michael Sicina, Greg Sicina; Grandneices, Kylie Lovitch and Meryl Brown; Grandneice Brooke Kaylin Sicina preceeded him in death...Grandnephews: Ethan Lovitch, Lucas Brown and Matthew Sicina. Cousins: Henry Kocot, Maryann Kocot Taggart. Cousin: Anthony (Tony) Kocot preceeded him in death.
