Services for Mrs. Ruth E. Thomas, 69, of 319 Yale, who died Sunday in a Nampa nursing home after an extended illness, will be conducted at the Alsip Funeral Chapel at 10:30 a.m. Thursday by the Rev. Clare E. Olney of the First Congregational Church, interment will be at Kohlerlawn.
Mrs. Thomas was born March 31, 1904, in Americus, Kan., a daughter of Fred and Anna Edmiston. The family moved to Parma in 1910, and later came to Nampa, She was graduated from Nampa High School in 1921, and from Albion Normal School in 1926. She married Floyd I. Thomas June 15, 1927, in Nampa. She taught school in Nampa for many years, retiring in 1966. Mr. Thomas died In 1937.
She was a charter member of the First Congregational Church, a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, the National Retired Teachers Association, and the Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA).
Surviving are a son, Ralph E. Thomas of Missoula, Mont.; two daughters, Mrs, Maurice (Elaine) Woodard of Nampa and Mrs. Wayne (Shirley) Eshelman of Bend, Ore.; a brother, Roy Edmiston of Caldwell; a sister, Mrs. Mildred Bailey of Nampa; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Harold Edmiston.
