"1812 22 Junii 23 Henercus Khun Translation: Henry Kuhn died on June 22, 1812 and was buried on the 23rd" (Conewago Chapel Burial Register page 276)

"Kuhn, Henry, of John Kuhn and his wife Catharine, born January 8, 1769, baptized January 17, in his parents' house, at Cedar creek; sponsors, Henry Kuhn and Margaret Schmitt" (Goshenhoppen Registers, page 36; "Records", Volume 3, page 313)

Henry married Catharine Litzinger probably at Conewago Chapel in Adams County, Pennsylvania between February 1793 and January 1795 during the period where there are no marriage records, which would make sense as their first son was born in October 1795. Henry and Catharine were the parents of these children:

  • John "2 octobris 1795 5 octobris 1796 [sic 1795] joannes coon filius henrici et catharinae coon sponsores joannes et catharina coon" (Conewago Chapel Baptismal Register page 15) "Aprilis 27 1818 Matrimonio junctus est Joannes Kuhn cum Elisabetha Welsch Testes Jacobus Klein et Maria Welsch." (Conewago Chapel Marriage Register page 241) John Kuhn of Mountpleasant township died on February 22, 1860 aged about 66 years (Gettysburg Compiler, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania • Mon, Feb 27, 1860, Page 3) His wife Elizabeth gave control over the estate and will to her "trusty friend and son-in-law" Peter Neiderer to administrate. The will also mentions Joseph Kuhn and his sister Eve Kuhn, probably children.

  • Henry "7 Februarii 1797 12 februarii 1797 Henricus filius henrici et catharinae koon patroni jacobus Litzinger et maria koon" (Conewago Chapel Baptismal Register page 21)

  • Leonard "5 junii 1800 8 junii 1800 Leonardus filius henrici Cuhn et catharinae (litzinger) Spons Leonardus et magdalena litzinger" (Conewago Chapel Baptismal Register page 35)

  • Jacob "20. Oct. 12 Nov. 1803 Jacobus filius Henricis et Catharinae Kun Sponsores Jacobus, et Magdalena Kun" (Conewago Chapel Baptismal Register page 53)

  • Joseph "23. nbris 11a dcbris 1805 josephus filius henerici et Cathae Kuhn Susceptores fuere joannes et Cath Kuhn CC." (Conewago Chapel Baptismal Register page 67)

  • Elizabeth "1807 12. Oct. 22 nbris Elesabetha filia Henerici et Catharinae Kuhn Sponsores fuere Guillelmus et Catharina Little." (Conewago Chapel Baptismal Register page 79)

The 1810 United States Census indicates that Henry and Catharine had one more female and one more male under the age of 10, living with them in Mount Pleasant Township. They may be their children or other relatives staying with them at the time of the census.

(How can we be sure that the Henry Kuhn who was baptized in Bucks County is the same as the Henry Kuhn who had children with Catharine Litzinger in Mount Pleasant Township, Adams County?)
