Roberta B. Garten -- Roberta B. Garten, 86, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2015, at Loftland [sic - accurately spelled Lofland] Park Center in Seaford.

Roberta was born in Laurel, a daughter of the late Capt. Garland Bloodsworth and Olevia Messick Bloodsworth. Roberta was a professional business secretary. She graduated from Laurel High School and Beacom College.

Mrs. Garten is survived by a stepdaughter, Beverly Whiteford (Pete); grandsons, Christopher, William, and Matthew Whiteford; great-grandsons, Perry and Leo Whiteford; a daughter, Tracye Carey and nieces, Jane Foskey and Ann Elliott.

In addition to her parents, Roberta was preceded in death by her husband, William Garten, and her siblings, Catherine James, Garland Bloodsworth Jr., James Bloodsworth, Daniel Bloodsworth and Jenny B Hall.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Laurel. The Rev. Dr. Howard Backus will officiate.

Arrangements are in the care of Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home, Laurel.
