James E. Sellers was born October 4, 1901 in Maries County, Missouri to George Washington and Cora Ann Reiz Sellers. He leaves siblings, Charles M. Sellers of St. Louis, Missouri, Melba Wisdom of St. James, Missouri and Mae Sewell of St. James, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and five brothers.

He married Zella Todd on April 18, 1949 in East St. Louis. Survivors include his wife and children, Elbert A. Selleers of Ellington, Missouri, Clyde James Sellers of Bluford, Mary Ruth Stica of St. Ann, Missouri; and Shirley Lee Bryant of Dupo. Also surviving are step-children, Buddy Todd of Fordyce, Arkansas, Catherine Atkinson of Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, Eula Mae Todd of Fordyce and Thelma Gilley of Memphis, Tennessee.

Mr. Sellers was a retired laborer for Swift and Company in National City, Missouri, and attended the First Baptist church in Mount Vernon.

He died at the age of 82 in Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Veron.
