Thomas Rex Blackwell, 81, of Petal, died Friday May 30, 2014, at Forrest General Hospital. He was born on September 8, 1932, in Seminary, MS, to R.D. and Imogene Blackwell. Mr. Blackwell served in the United States Army. He graduated from The University of Southern Mississippi with a Master's Degree in Education, and served as a principal in the Hattiesburg Public School District for 33 years.

Mr. Blackwell was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jerry Blackwell, and a sister, Bobbie Goodwin.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jimmie Blackwell; two sons, Steve and Greg (Debbie) Blackwell; one daughter, Marilyn (Jim) Walker; a grandson, Gabe Blackwell; a sister, Quida Aultman, and his brother, Mike Blackwell.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 2, 2014, at Petal Presbyterian Church from 9:00-11:00am with a Celebration of Life Memorial Service to follow at 11:00am.
