DeVern "Cotton" Aaron
Rio Vista—Bro. DeVern "Cotton" Aaron, 78, a courageous man of unwavering faith, integrity, and great strength, entered into his eternal rest Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011.
A memorial celebration of his life will be held at 12 noon, Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Parker Baptist Church.
Lunch will be served after the service.
Bro. De was born in Rotan, Texas on February 8, 1933, to Eunice Terah (Smith) and Thomas Lee Aaron. He served in the US Air Force from 1948 -1954. His tour of duty took him to Korea and Berlin. After his service, he owned gravel trucks and worked at Bell Helicopter for a number of years. He was a graduate of Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth. He was also a member of the Baptist Association and became pastor of Parker Baptist Church where he served from 1974 – 1977.
After leaving Parker Baptist, having his own truck, he became a member of Transport for Christ, doing Truck Stop Ministry. Due to health issues, "Cotton" retired in 1991.
He lived a blessed life and Cotton's faith in God was his greatest source of joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Thadeus Aaron; only sister, Cassie Ruth Dawson; nieces, Sherry Ruslink and Shelia Aaron Kemp; and his sister-in-law, Vi Aaron, whom he loved very much.
Cotton is also preceded in death by his only son, Ronald Dwayne Aaron, who was born Jan. 11, 1958 and passed away Aug. 24, 1964 in a tragic accident.
Cotton is also survived by his adopted daughter and caregiver, Dorthey Walton and her children, Hunter and Pearl; caregiver, Leslie Walton and her children, Carli and Tow. Their families have become our own.
