Harold M. Smout age 95 died Friday at the Evansville Manor Nursing Home. He was the son of Roscoe and Esther (Schwerin) Smout. Harold married Bernice Kildow on October 20, 1940 in Dubuque Iowa and she preceded him in death on November 26, 2008. Harold started farming with his parents and farmed all his life in the Albany area. He loved tending to his cows, enjoyed woodworking and being outdoors. He and Bernice farmed for over fifty years and retired to Evansville in 1982. He loved his trips to Minnesota and couldn't believe he crossed the Mississippi River. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Bernice, a sister Merle Montgomery.
