T. J. Franklin, age 89 of Irving, died May 27, 2014. He was born to Thomas Jefferson Franklin Sr. and Viola Pauline Grimes on July 16, 1924 in Dallas, Texas. T.J. was a resident of Irving for 73 years, a member of the Dallas Model A Club, and enjoyed restoring antique bicycles. He proudly served his country while in the U.S. Army during World War II. T.J. retired from Kodak, Inc. in 1982 after 32 years as a camera repairman. He will be dearly missed by his son Tommy Franklin and wife Zona; daughter Georgia Ann Thomas; sister Polly Stamps; sister Ann McFarland and husband Clifford; grandchildren Chris Thomas and wife Tonya; Michael Franklin and wife Tamra; Steve Franklin and wife Annie; 7 great grandchildren, nephew Thomas Franklin and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving family members. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 29, 2014 from 7 PM to 9 PM. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 30, 2014 at 3 PM at Brown's Memorial Funeral Home with interment immediately following at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. The family requests memorials to the American Cancer Society at PO Box 560089, Dallas, Texas 75356.
