Mary Irene Larsen, 92, of Burwell, Nebraska died May 28, 2014 at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell.
Funeral services will be 10:30 Monday, June 2, 2014 at the United Methodist Church in Burwell, Nebraska. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery in Ord, Nebraska. Pastor Dennis Davenport will officiate. Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell is in charge of the arrangements.
Irene was born April 29, 1922 in Wheeler County, Nebraska to Carl and Mary I. (Allard) Erickson.
Irene graduated from Ericson High School. After graduation she went right into normal training and started teaching. She taught for twenty-six years in various country schools. After she retired from teaching she worked as the activities director at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell.
Irene enjoyed baking, flowers, gardening and garage sales. She was active in her church and the Christian Women.
Irene is survived by her husband Gerald Larsen of Burwell, Nebraska. Two children, Judy and Larry Brownell of Terrebonne, Oregon and Larry and Deb Larsen of Burwell, Nebraska. Four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and one brother, Gus and Lenna Erickson of Prescott, Arizona.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Ira, Conrad, Lee and Gail Erickson.
