Funeral services for Robert Earl Akin, Jr., 50, were held Oct. 21 at 2 p.m. at the Homer Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Harlan officiating, assisted by the Rev. Fred Horton.
Burial was held in Arlington Cemetery.
Mr. Akin passed away Oct. 19 at his residence following a short illness. He was a Security Guard Lieutenant at Wade Correctional Center in Homer. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge, was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church and a member of the First Baptist Church of Homer.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Tarpley Akin of Homer; his mother, Arnella W. Akin of Homer; two daughters, Michelle Akin of Shreveport and Marilyn Akin of Homer, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers were J. O. Haywood, Charles Lewis, Jimmy Miller, Ronald Day, Roy Lewis and Glen Gibbs.
