Gerald T. "Gary" Allen, age 71, of Independence, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Independence.
Graveside services will be held on 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 2nd at Mount Hope Cemetery, Independence, KS with Pastor Darren Melton of First Church of the Nazarene officiating. The register book will be available for signing on Friday, May 30th, from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Webb & Rodrick Chapel. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Alano Club, Inc. and memorials may be left at the chapel.
Gary was born January 3, 1943 in Wichita, KS, the son of Robert Lee and Zelda Irene (Downey) Allen. Gary graduated from High School in Pittsburg, KS, after graduation he attended Independence Community College and then Pittsburg State University. He had been employed as an evaluator for 4-County Mental Health Center. He enjoyed fishing and golfing and spending time with his family.
Gary is survived by his son: Bret & wife Dana Allen of Lenexa, KS, daughters; Kim (B.J.) Meller of Wichita, KS, and Trisha and husband Enda Murphy of New York City, NY, his companion, Phyllis Harmon of Wichita, KS. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Garret, Colton and Blake Allen of Lenexa, KS, Garret and wife Amanda Meller of Wichita, KS and Kelsey and husband Cale Thompson of Valley Center, KS, 3 great-grandchildren: Tyson, Tanner and Trenton Meller of Wichita, KS.
Webb & Rodrick Chapel & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
