David H. Albrecht, Age 90 of Coal City, passed away Tuesday May 27, 2014 at Morris Hospital.

Born June 10, 1923 in Coal City, David was a son of the late Frank and Elizabeth "Bessie" Wilson-Albrecht. He was a graduate of Coal City High School and honorably and proudly served in the Merchant Marines. On July 27, 1947, David married Mary Lavina Roy in the rectory of Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City. Early on David worked for his father's meat market, and over the years held employment with the Coal City Bowling Alley, International Harvester, Greer/Ryder, Material Services and T.J. / Brown and Lambrecht. He was a member of Teamsters Local #179 and retired as a diesel mechanic. Dave belonged to the Coal City United Methodist Church, was a Mason with the A.F. & A.M. Braidwood Lodge and was a charter member of the Coal City Area Club. He greatly enjoyed fishing and bowling, and will be remembered by his countless scale models and replicas of local business' and landmarks, which he meticulously handcrafted.

Survivors include his wife Mary; four children: Terry McIntyre of Birmingham, Alabama, Meg (Steve) Fleming of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Liz (Tom) Yeates of Pearland, Texas and Becky Wisman of Coal City; his daughter-in-law Lynn Albrecht of Coal City; ten grandchildren: Marissa McIntyre, Michael McIntyre, Steven McIntyre, David Fleming, Nathan (April) Albrecht, Kristi Albrecht, Brad (Julie) Overton, Stacy (Scott) Klee, Sarah Wisman and Joshua Wisman; (12) great grandchildren: Naiya, Jordana, Lauren, Amanda, Dana, Cole, Sophia, Jasmin, Savannah, Mason, Christian and Devin; one brother-in-law James Roy of Coal City and numerous nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents; son Frank; brothers and sisters: Fritz Albrecht, Josephine (Dominic) Giordano, Velma (William) Smith, Marquerite (Ted) Smith, her twin brother Dale (Dorothy) Albrecht, and sister-in-law Shirley (Vic) Monbrum.

Visitation and video tribute will be held on Sunday June 1, 2014 between the hours of 2:00PM and 6:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block north of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Funeral services will follow Monday morning June 2nd at 10:00AM in the funeral home. Reverend Dr. Thomas Logsdon will officiate.

Burial with full military honors will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
