Robert Thomas Adamson (Bob) Wasilla, Alaska formally of Franklin, Idaho, returned to the open arms of his Heavenly Father on May 19, 2014, after a valiant two and a half-year battle with cancer. He was born June 22, 1944, in Sioux City, Iowa, and is the oldest son of Loyd Thomas Adamson and Lucille Mildred Brown (both deceased) He had the opportunity to live in many parts of the country and Canada in his youth while his father served as an Air Force Pilot.
He graduated high school in Ogden at Ben Lomand High and later graduated from Weber State University with a degree in biology and minors in education and botany. He later joined the Marine Corps and served our country in the Vietnam Conflict.
He married Jeniene VanDyke in the Salt Lake City Temple and had two children, Bret and Heather. They later divorced and Bob married Deborah O'Toole. They raised her daughter Sandy and moved to Alaska where he spent the rest of his life.
Bob loved every aspect of the outdoors and respected it tremendously. Nothing brought him greater joy than to be able to go out with his family and friends and fish, hunt, hike, or help someone bag their first big game animal. He had a vast knowledge of firearms and ammunition reloading and he could make an average gun into a great gun. His children and friends remember a lot of fun times at rifle ranges, hunting and enjoying the outdoors. It was just fun being around him. He was always the first to help others in need and loved to hear the successes of his loved ones and friends.
His infectious smile, his great laugh, his love and caring demeanor will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.
He is survived by his spouse, Deborah, his two children, Bret (Marjorie) Benson, Utah, Heather Egbert (Jack) Logan, Utah, step-daughter Sandra Rollings (Mike) Meridian, Idaho, Siblings Sandra Curtis (Al) North Ogden, Utah, Linda Sullivan (Dennis) Santa Barbara, California, James Adamson (Trisha) Big Water, Utah, Mary Facer (Jack Middleton) Phoenix, Arizona. Kathryn Barton (Arthur) Salt Lake City, Utah, Sharon Dickerson (Richard) Houston, Texas, William Adamson (Kelly) Preston, Idaho. His Auntie Helen Dayton (JR) and three cousins, many nieces and nephews and four grandchildren. Funeral services and internment took place on May 23, 2014. Gravesite is located in Palmer, Alaska Valley Memorial Cemetery. Services were performed by the United States Marine Corps.
