Alvina M. Bortz, 84, formerly of 24 E. Garrison St., Bethlehem, died Thursday in Gracedale, Upper Nazareth Township. She was the wife of Elmer E. Bortz. They were married 65 years last November.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Clyde and Margaret (Jones) Pursell.
She was a member of Fritz Memorial United Methodist Church, Bethlehem.
Survivors: Husband; daughters, Joan L., wife of Henry Nikkel of Columbia, Ohio, and Carole M., wife of Luther LaBarre of Newark, Del.; son, Donald R. of Nazareth; brothers, Alfred of Zephyrhills, Fla., Roy of Nazareth, Robert of Bath and Edward of Phoenix, Ariz.; sisters, Claire Salabsky and Ruth Lasso, both of Bethlehem, and Bessie Parry of Peoria, Ariz.; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Elmer E. Jr.
Services: 10 a.m. Monday, Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden St., Bethlehem. Call 7-9 p.m. Sunday.
