Scott L. Abel, age 54, of the Town of Richfield entered into eternal life on Friday May 23, 2014 at Vitas Hospice in Wauwatosa.

He was born on August 8, 1959 in St. Paul, MN to the late Lawrence and Cecelia (nee Rohr) Abel.

Scott was raised in Menasha and graduated from high school there in 1977. He attended UW-Madison for several years and graduated from UW-Oshkosh with a degree in Microbiology. Scott's career lead him into sales of water treatment chemicals to industrial and manufacturing companies in Wisconsin and Illinois.

On January 3, 1997 Scott was united in marriage to DeAnn Nelsen at St. John's Lutheran Church-Jackson, where they were members.

Scott enjoyed marathon running, and his ultimate goal was to be eligible for the Boston Marathon. He also enjoyed all types of sports, and coached little league, basketball and flag football.

He is survived by his loving wife, DeAnn Nelsen-Abel; five children, Emily Abel of Cedarburg, Lucas Nelsen, Aaron Abel, Brett Abel, and Eric Abel all at home; two sisters, Joann (Ken) Robel of Kaukauna, and Darlene (Bob) Lipske of Lake Mills; mother-in-law, Ann Nelsen of Cumberland; father-in-law, DeWayne (Sue Kubala) Nelsen of Stillwater, MN; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Vanden Broek of Combined Locks, and Lisa (Giovanni) Grecco of Savage, MN; a brother-in-law, Wayne (Kelly) Nelsen of Owensburg, IN; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Cecelia; a sister, Bonnie Metz; and a brother, Duane Vanden Broek.

Funeral services in remembrance of Scott will be held on Sunday June 1st at 6:00pm at St. John's Lutheran Church (2881 Division Road) Jackson. Rev. Paul Mittermaier will officiate.

Visitation will be at the church on Sunday from 3:00 pm until the time of service.

Burial will be in St. John's Church Cemetery.
