Barney was born in Mayna, Louisiana and was raised in and around the Ferriday, Louisiana area. At one time he was a cab driver for the Gilley Cab Services in Ferriday, Louisiana. Growing up as a young man he had 2 acquaintances that later in life became well known. They were Jerry Lee Lewis and Mickey Gilley. It was Mickey's father's cab service that Barney worked for. After he and his wife Sue were married they moved to Oakdale, Louisiana and began a family there They had 3 boys, Barney Jr., Byrel and Bryan. Later they adopted a baby girl named Brenda and became a complete family. There were other children that came through his life that also meant a lot to Barney . There was a brother and sister that they helped and their names were also Brian and Brenda. It got quite confusing with 2 sets of children by the same names. When Barney passed away he was actually on leave from work due to injuries received through an accident. His death was not due to this accident. Barney left behind many family members and friends that admired and respected him.
