RAPHINE – Carrie Elizabeth (Lotts) Barnes, 75, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2014, at her residence surrounded by her family.

Born Dec. 5, 1938 in Rockbridge County, she was the daughter of the late Guy Berry and Beulah (Duff) Lotts. On Jan. 3, 1965, she married the love of her life, E. Donald Barnes. The two shared a blessed union of 49 years together.

Mrs. Barnes was a member of New Covenant Church. Carrie was a faithful employee of McQuay International, where she worked as a welder for 27 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading her Bible, camping, fishing, boating and crocheting.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ruby Back and her brother, Hunter Lotts.

In addition to her loving husband, survivors include her son, Johnny Anderson of Raphine; grandchildren, Daniel Fitzgerald and Samantha Brown; great-grandchildren, Laney, Brendan and Kendall Brown; siblings, William Lotts of Buena Vista, Helen L. Flesher and husband, Frank, of Zion, Ill., and Shirley Seery and husband, Larey, of Waynesboro.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be at 5 p.m. Monday, May 26, 2014, at New Covenant Church with Pastor Don Cash officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
