Gary was an active member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. He was a Vietnam Era Veteran. He organized, commanded and instructed the Imperial Knights Color Guard to seven National Championships, 16 PA State Championships and three Canadian/American International Championships. He was a Drum Major of the World Champion Thunderbirds Drum & Bugle Corps. In later life, Gary enjoyed his quiet time at home and liked to travel. His favorite destination was Orlando, Fla. He loved his flower and vegetable gardens and sports. Retired after 20 years with the Thomas J. Lipton Company, he went on to own and operate Gary & Viv's Little Grocer in North East and continued to work as a Sales Rep for various food concerns.
He was preceded in death by his wife Vivian Triana Dumond on June 23, 2001, and brothers Donald R. Dumond and Jon C. Dumond.
He is survived by his wife Cheryl Deforce Cenfetelli Dumond (m July 24, 2004); daughter Rachelle McFeely and husband Scott of North East, sons, James Helffrich of North East, John Helffrich (Lori) of North East, Cara Cenfetelli (Philip) of Pittsburgh, Scott Cenfetelli of Kansas City, Mo., brother Thomas DuMond (Janet) of North East, sister-in-law Kay DuMond of Pensacola, Fla., grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces.
Buried with full Military Honors at St. Gregory Cemetery.
