Meretta A. Bennett, the daughter of the late Charles Bennett and Nellie (Richardson) Bennett, was born March 19, 1929 in Saginaw, Michigan. She married Alex V. Menapace, her loving husband of 60 years, on May 26, 1951. He survived her.
Meretta was employed as a bookkeeper at Mueller Bros. and Spence Bros. She was later employed at The Saginaw News in display advertising. Meretta was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and St. Anne Society. Meretta was an avid card player and especially liked playing Bridge and Euchre. She also enjoyed playing bingo. Most of all, she loved being with her family.
Surviving besides her husband Alex were one daughter, one son and their spouses, Jill and Ted Matthews, East Tawas; Mark and Lori Menapace, Saginaw; six grandchildren, Sara (Jon) Innes, Jon (Ashley) Gerow, Jonathon (Tonja) Matthews, Gina Gerow, Brandon Menapace and Brittany Menapace; a great-grandson, Adam Innes and another great-grandchild on the way; a brother-in-law, Arthur Menapace, Saginaw; several nieces and nephews.
Meretta was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers, Erma Wells, Frances Fowler, Betty Tolfree, Robert Bennett, Joseph Bennett, and also by two infant siblings.
