Alma Louise HEADLEY

November 9, 1918 - May 25, 2014

ALMA LOUISE HEADLEY, daughter of Omer and May Chambers Young, was born November 9, 1918, in Wright County, Missouri and departed this life May 25, 2014, in Richland, Missouri, at the age of ninety-five years. Alma attended school in Coldwater, Missouri in Wright County. She made friends easily and appreciated the friendships she shared with each of them through the years. Alma made a profession of faith in Christ and became a member of Brownfield Baptist Church. She remained active and faithful, as long as her health allowed. On July 29, 1939, Alma was united in marriage with Samuel Headley. To this union was born three sons. Alma and Samuel raised their sons in Laclede County. Prior to Samuel's passing on June 21, 1997, they had shared fifty-seven years of love and wonderful memories together. Although Alma's top priority was to her family as a loving wife and mother, she also worked outside her home for several years. She was a secretary for Civil Service and was well respected by her co-workers and employers. When she wasn't working or tending to her household chores, Alma enjoyed baking for church members, neighbors, and especially her family. She also enjoyed tending to her flowers, indoor and outdoor. However, the time spent with her family was most precious to her. She leaves to celebrate her memory, two sons, Samuel Headley and his wife Beverly of Laquey, MO, and Barry Headley and his wife Darlene of Petaluma, CA; three brothers, John Young of St. Charles, MO, Tom Young of Hartville, MO, and Newt Young of Spanish Lake, St. Louis, MO; two sisters, Sally Amos of Lebanon, MO, and Alice Roester of the state of CA; six grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Alma was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Donald; four sisters, Ila Mae Venable, Kathleen Bramhall, and Ruby and Elizabeth. She was a wonderful wife and mother, cherished grandmother, treasured sister and loyal friend. Those who had the pleasure of knowing her will miss her dearly. Our loss was Heaven's gain.
