Richard Henry Borum was born 2/15/1836 in Strasburg, Shenandoah Co., VA (Bible of Charles James & Laura Bernice Borum Seibert), and died 3/14/1884 in Martinsburg, Berkeley Co., WV. He married Susan Catherine Sencindiver 1/29/1867 in Berkeley Co., WV, by David Sheaff, daughter of Jacob Sencindiver and Elizabeth Boltz. She was born 1/22/1838 in Berkeley Co., VA, and died 1/31/1902 in Berkeley Co., WV. They were married at the home of Jacob Sencindiver, Berkeley Co., WV, by David Sheaff on January 29, 1867. Richard moved to Berkeley Co., WV, in 1872 and was a fruit grower. His military record reads: CSA, Lt., Co. A, 10th VA Infantry. He enlisted April 18, 1861, and was commissioned 3rd Lt., August 24, 1861. He was promoted to 2nd Lt., June 1862; was promoted 1st Lt., June 1, 1863; was detailed to commissary, September 11, 1864, and was paroled at Appomattox, April 1865. Obituary from the Martinsburg Statesman: He died Tuesday, at 11:30 a.m. at Willow Grove, his residence near Darkesville, WV, with services to be held at 10:00 a.m. Both he and Susan are buried in Green Hill Cemetery, Martinsburg, Berkeley Co., WV.
