Geraldine "Gerry" Cecil Barnett

Mrs. Geraldine "Gerry" Cecil Barnett, age 79, of Maumelle, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Little Rock.

Mrs. Barnett was born on Aug. 14, 1921, in Leachville, and was the daughter of Walter McPherson and Ola Hays McPherson. She was a long time resident of Forrest City where she worked for Jefferson Standard Life Insurance Company and owned and operated a music store and resale shop, before moving to Maumelle.

Mrs. Barnett married Curtis Cecil in 1937, and he preceded her in death in 1975. She married Pierce Barnett in 1977, and he preceded her in death in 1990. She is survived by three daughters, Sharon Marrs of Maumelle, Karen Magee of Conway and Gerry Lynne Bowers of Searcy; two sons, Terry Cecil of Colleyville, Texas and Wayne Cecil of Corinth, Texas; 10 brothers and sisters, Imogene Brustol, Randall McPherson, Bonnie Withem, Wayne McPherson, Winona Darre, Vern McPherson, Bill McPherson, Ron McPherson, Pat Heugatter and Rick McPherson; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Mrs. Barnett will be Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 9, 2001, at 2 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home, with burial following in Forrest Park Cemetery. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The family requests that memorials be made to the American Heart Association or to the charity of choice.
