Art married Gladys Ramsey (1903-1989) on October 9, 1922 in Portland, Oregon. They were divorced in 1937, and Gladys married second, Virgil Crum (1884-1958).

Arthur was a sailor in the U.S. Navy during World War I. He was the President of the Barker Bread Company, on Sandy Blvd., in the early 1920's. By the mid 1930's he had become the President of Golden Krust Bakery in Portland.

Arthur and Gladys had one son:

Ramsey Paul Fendall, Sr. (1925-2012)

Arthur E. Fendall

Arthur E. Fendall attended the public schools, graduating from the high school at Corvallis, after which he came to Portland and entered the employ of the Hazelwood Company, with which he remained for five years. He then became assistant credit manager for the Fleishner-Mayer Company, which position he held until 1922, when he acquired an interest in the Barker Bread Company, of which he became secretary and manager in 1924. This company was established in 1921 by H. D. Anderson, and is now owned by W. R. Bowles and Mr. Fendall, the former being president of the company. The plant, one story in height with a mezzanine floor, is one hundred and twenty by one hundred and ten feet in dimensions and is in every respect modern in its equipment. The bread is baked by the continuous conveying system and the oven, sixty five by nine feet in size, is heated by gas. It is thermostatic heat and humidity controlled and has a capacity of twenty four thousand loaves of bread a day. The company has fifty-two employees and uses eighteen delivery wagons, supplying bread to dealers throughout the city and vicinity. He is also interested financially in several other local enterprises. Mr Fendall is a democrat in his political views and is a member of the Portland Chamber of Commerce and the Progressive Business Men's Club. He possesses marked executive ability and his business record has gained for him the respect and esteem of all who know him.
Edward Fendall, Arthur's father, had a personal acquaintance with General Phil Sheridan. He followed farming and in the '60's hauled grain to Portland in wagon's. He was born in 1854 and is the fourth in order of birth of fourteen children, eleven of whom are deceased. He now lives on a well improved farm near Portland. Arthur remembers well the conditions surrounding pioneer life in this state, when wild game, such as bear and deer, abounded, when improved roads were almost unknown, and the conveniences and luxuries of modern life were not even dreamed of (Taken from excerpts of "History of the Columbia River Valley - From the Dalles to the Sea").
