SUSIE E. CAMPBELL FENDALL

Susie E. Campbell was born in Warren County, Missouri, October 1856. When 9 years of age she crossed the plains with her parents, Peter H. and Sophronia Campbell, in 1865, settling on the shores of Tualatin Lake, in Tualatin, Oregon, where she lived one year, thence moving to the P. T. Turner place near Sheridan, living there two years. From there they moved to the Doc Gleason place, where her girlhood days were spent. When but a girl she united with the Christian Church. On December 6, 1876, she was married to Riley Yates Fendall, who passed away 2 years ago.
To their union were born six children, five of whom are living. Last Sunday morning she became suddenly ill, which illness necessitated removing her to the McMinnville Hospital, where an operation was performed, Monday afternoon, with hopes of relieving her condition. On Friday morning she took a turn for the worse and another slight operation was performed, from which she never recovered, and she passed away Friday afternoon, August 4, 1922, at 2:30 o'clock, at the age of 65 years, 9 months and 27 days.
She leaves to mourn her loss the following children, Mrs. Roxie Mendenhall, Guy H. Fendall, Mrs. Carrie Brown, Lucia B. Fendall, Mrs. Cullie Fisher, one sister, Mrs. W. E. Fendall, of Nortons, and two brothers, David C. and Marshall of Sheridan, and 13 grandchildren.
She was a devoted wife, a kind and loving mother, and beloved by all who knew her.
The Rev. Brunk of McMinnville conducted funeral service at the home Sunday afternoon, and the deceased was laid to rest beside her husband, in the Buck Hollow Cemetery.
