Following in Rae's footsteps, Frank has willed his body to medical science.

A resident of New Iberia, Mr. Bacqu/ died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005, at his residence.

Born October 10, 1918 in Maurice, Mr. Bacqu/ has been a resident of New Iberia for 48 years. Frank served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, was owner and operator of Bacqu/ Refrigeration and a member of many groups including the Sertoma Club, Lions Club, Lost Diners Club, French Optimist Club and the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid sportsman, hunting and fishing the waters of Acadiana. Through his work for 25 years as assistant scoutmaster for Troop 133 of the Boy Scouts of America, he helped to teach another generation of Acadians the love and enjoyment of our wonderful natural resources.

Known to his family as "Pop," Frank and his wife Rae were members of St. Peter's Catholic Church. They were well-known members of the community, enjoyed the love of a large family and had countless friends. Always quick with a joke, his passing will leave a void in the lives of many.

He is survived by his four sons and their wives, Vernon and Yvette Bacqu/ of New Iberia, Allen and Winnie Bacqu/ of Lafayette, David and Diana Bacqu/ of Houston and Lee and Lilla Bacqu/ of New Iberia; a daughter, Anne Darrah and husband Curtis of New Iberia; a son-in-law, Gerald Judice and wife Yvonne of Loreauville; a sister, Cecile Meech of New Iberia; eight grandchildren, Jeanne Bacqu/ of Denver, Colo., Stewart Bacqu/ and Breanne Sargent both of Lafayette, Erin Sargent of Breaux Bridge, Lauren and Eric Judice both of Lafayette, Emily Judice of Loreauville and Paul Bacqu/ of Houston and numerous nieces and nephews.
