Mary Was born May 8, 1940 in Petoskey, the daughter Leo and Mary Jane (Zumbaugh) Sobleski. She attended St. Francis school, where she graduated in 1958.

On May 18, 1963, she married Gerald Hoffman at St. Francis Church in Petoskey.
