Arthur Jack King

Arthur Jack King was born October 7, 1939 and received his wings on February 6, 2014 at the age of 74. He was born in Beaumont, Texas to Glen Elwin and Melda Maxine King. As a young man, Jack was raised on his grandparent's farm in Kirbyville, Tx. At an early age, Jack earned the title of EAGLE SCOUT. These lessons he used to mold his future and become the man he became. This is also where Jack followed in the footsteps of his father and uncle and began his life long career as a firefighter. He graduated high school in Dumas, Texas and went on to graduate from Commenwealth Institute of Mortuary Science in 1962. Jack became interested in the Funeral Industry while working for Broussard's Funeral Home in Beaumont, TX. While later working for Weldon Davis Funeral Home, he met Brenda Oswalt and April 10, 1964 they were married. Their daughter Mary Vonne was born in October of 1965. Jack moved his family to Huntsville in 1967 to begin his career at Huntsville Funeral Home where he stayed until retiring, as owner, of that establishment in 1999. Jack stayed involved in both the funeral and fire industries until his death. Jack was a caring man who devoted his life to the service of others. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, mentor and friend.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Henry Frizzell, and niece Shauna Austin. He is survived his by: wife Brenda King of Huntsville, daughter Mary Vonne Brame of Huntsville, granddaughters, his "girls" Robyn, Makenzie and Alyson Brame of Huntsville, brother Eugene Frizzell and wife Sylvia of Nacognoches and sister Reba Frizzell Milstead and Husband Tom of Nacogdoches. Jack is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends. Jack was involved in numerous organizations and had too many accomplishments to name here. In his words…"No need to go into details as to things done, those that know me know and the others probably don't give a damn."
The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 9 from 3-5 pm at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home, Huntsville Tx. Services will be held Monday, February 10, 12:00 pm "NOON" at Northside Baptist Church, 1207 FM 980 Huntsville, Tx with Interment following at Mayes Addition at Oakwood Cemetery in Huntsville, Tx.
