Wendell Joseph Booth, 76, of Owensboro passed away from this life on May 23, 2014, at The Heartford House, Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born on Nov. 13, 1937, in Daviess County to the late Sam and Monta Ballard Booth.

Mr. Booth was the retired co-owner of Tire Mart. He volunteer his time with St. Vincent De Paul and was an active member of St. Stephen Cathedral and part of Stephen Ministry. He was a longtime Rotarian, member of the Friendship Force, and the 20 and 4 club. He was a devoted grandfather and loved spending time with family and friends.

Including his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Booth of Owensboro, and a sister, Geraldine Mudd of Nashville, Tenn.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Bryan Medley Booth; a daughter, Carrie (Bernie) Smith of Louisville; three sons, B.J. (Paula) Booth and Tom Ed (Robin) Booth, both of Owensboro and Brad (Susan) Booth of Nashville, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; a brother, Richard Booth of Owensboro; and a sister Dorothy Howell of Evansville.

Services will be at noon Monday at St. Stephen Cathedral with Father Jerry Riney officiating. Burial to follow in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home. Prayers will be said 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
