Son of Charles Frank Smith and Audie Forbes Smith.

Carl was a math teacher for eighteen years at Oden High School and then worked in real estate until he retired.

An active member and supporter of numerous organizations, he was a former board member of the Montgomery County Nursing Home, a charter member of the Oden-Pencil Bluff Volunteer Fire Department, a former Montgomery County Justice of the Peace, board member and volunteer at the Heritage House Museum in Montgomery County, and was involved with many other worthwhile organizations.

Carl is survived by his wife of fifty-five years; one son and daughter-in-law of Newport, North Carolina; one son of Oden, Arkansas; one daughter and son-in-law of Smackover, Arkansas; three brothers; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
