Alice Bearup Dies Following Extended Illness
Alice M. Bearup, 74, a resident of Santa Cruz for the past 10 years and widow of the late James Bearup, died in a local hospital yesterday after a long illness. Mrs. Bearup, who was a native of Wisconsin, had lived in Madera prior to coming here. She was an active member of the Grace Methodist church here. The Bearups conducted a grocery business in Boulder Creek for some years. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Henry Crow of Modesto and Mrs. C. C. Wilbur of Santa Cruz; a brother, W. N. Cook of Madera, and 13 nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. L. W. Reneau and Rev. T. C. Hardwell Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Irvin M. Smith chapel. Burial will be in the IOOF cemetery.
