Charlie Christian was born in Mountain View, Oklahoma. He was a Dumas resident since 1943. He married Acena Weddle on May 02, 1945 in Tucumcari, New Mexico. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Dumas.
Charlie worked for American Zinc from 1943 to 1971 as a metal drawer. He worked in the maintenance department of the First Baptist Church of Dumas for 13 years before retiring in 1984.
He was preceded in death by a brother Glen Christian and a sister Vera Neer.
Survivors include: his wife; two sons Butch Weddle and wife Sheila of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Dudley Christian and wife Marilyn of Dumas; two daughters Janis Worley and husband Larry of Owasso, Oklahoma and Susan Buller and husband Wayne of Greely, Colorado; a brother Alfred Christian and wife Delene of Dumas; a sister Margaret Manning of Skelleytown; 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
