Fanny was the daughter of Lewis H. Massure and Rachel Page.

On Jan 14, 1836 in Stark, NH she married George Bailey Martin, son of Andrew Martin and Apphia Bailey.

Their children were Almira D. "Myra", George Frederick, and John Page

In the 1840 Haverhill, NH census a George B. Martin was listed with a wife and a daughter under 5 years old (which would have been Almira).

Her husband, George, died in 1843, possibly on Jan 10, 1843 in Maidstone, VT, or in Grafton County, NH, but I can't find a death record or a burial place for him. (he is not the George Martin who died in Sep 1843 buried in Bath, NH... that headstone appears to be two children).

With the death of her husband, Fanny was left as a 30 year old widow with 5 year old Almira, 3 year old George Frederick, and 6 month old John Page. I was told she kept her daughter Almira (although Almira never appears in a census with her) and her baby John Page with her and bound George Frederick out to a farmer Nathaniel RICHARDSON of of Maidstone, Vermont. George Frederick was 4 years old when he was bound out and was raised as a RICHARDSON. Although on all his marriage records and death records he was always listed as George Martin.

On Dec 20, 1849 in Maidstone, VT she married William Atkinson. He was born in England and his parents are not known.

In 1850 they lived in Granby, VT and in 1860 in Maidstone, VT. They lived in a log cabin in Maidstone. That log cabin had a dirt floor, but she had that dirt floor packed so hard that it was practically solid, and she was a very good housekeeper even with a dirt floor cabin.

Eventually George Frederick Martin built a house at Maidstone and his mother lived upstairs by 1870. Before that she lived for a short time with her daughter, Almira. In 1870 she was living with her son George Fred, next door to her daughter Almira (Martin) Hall.

Fanny was a diabetic but had a weakness for sweet cider. They went out visiting and she "just drank too much and had an attack and died" at the age of 66 years.

Fannie was also predeceased by her husband, William, on Feb 4, 1865 and son, John Page Martin, on Apr 27, 1870. John had never married and was originally buried in the "new" cemetery in Guildhall, VT but was later relocated due the changing course of the river.

Note:
The above birthdate is calculated from the age at death on the headstone. There is also a birthdate of Mar 1, 1812 floating around for her, but haven't found any records to verify it. I can't find a birth or death record for Fanny to clarify it more. In 1870 she was living in Maidstone with son George Fred, and it is assumed she died in Maidstone in 1878. George married there in 1875 and was still there widowed in the 1880 census and until his death in 1901.
