OBITUARY:
Donald James Coombs, 71, of Moffat, died Dec. 25, 2004 at Presbyterian St. Luke's Hospital in Denver. He was born Sept. 15, 1933 in Alamosa to Albert E. and Esther Lake Coombs. He married Frances Eilene Weaver on Oct. 7, 1952 in Alamosa. Donald was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served as a High Priest Second Counselor under two Branch Presidents. He was a fireman for the Denver and Rio Grande Western and the Southern Pacific Railroads before becoming a civilian truck driver for the U.S. Air Force. He retired after 33 years of service. His parents and one brother preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Eilene of the family home; his children, Kenneth Lee Coombs of Grand Junction, Kisha (Michael) Banks of Spanish Fork, Utah, Karen Lynn Coombs of Grand Junction, Karil Buchanan of Moffat, Kathleen Lenore (Doyle) Wilcox of Centerville, Mo. and Kay Lena (Christopher) Wonser of Ft. Morgan; one brother, Robert Coombs of Salinas, Calif.; 22 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
